Explosions in Tianjin port area
Three days after the explosions at Tianjin port area fires are still burning at the site. The explosion caused a large number of casualties as well as damage of buildings, vehicles and shipping containers. Chemicals stored at a port terminal most likely caused the explosions and the possible environmental impact is now being analysed. You can keep track of the situation by following this link: Tianjin
The shipping situation at the port
Some terminals at the port has resumed operations, but it is still too early to predict the recovery time of vessel operations since many indispensable facilities have been damaged.
Some shipping lines will accept booking again in week 35 (from August 24), however, we recommend our customers to consider using Qingdao and Dalian as alternative ports until further notice. As a backup solution, we offer a barge service from Qin Huang Dao (an inland port near to Tianjin) to Dalian.
Further, some shipping lines has decided to cease acceptance of new dangerous goods cargo with ETD between August 12 and September 6.
We are pleased to announce, that the explosions have affected none of our employees or their family members. No Scan Global Logistics containers have been lost.
