Scan Global Logistics further strengthens its automotive special logistics

Global logistics provider Scan Global Logistics (SGL) keeps a fast pace in pursuing its acquisition strategy. While SGL's recent acquisitions will strengthen its capabilities and service offerings within consumer electronics, the semiconductor industry and pharma & healthcare, now SGL picks up speed within automotive special logistics (ASL).

Effective 9 August, SGL acquired the owner-operated German-American logistics service provider and the assets of AFL Logistics GmbH in Germany and American Freight Line S.E. Inc. (AFL) in the USA.

Linking Europe and the US closer together, customers worldwide will benefit from improved overseas special automotive transport concepts, providing improved handling operations, capabilities and expertise.

Marc Oedekoven, EVP Automotive Logistics, expands on the benefits of the alliance:

"With these acquisitions, we will grow our automotive special logistics presence in the USA to benefit our customers and become even stronger in Germany."

Gabriele Heinrichs, AFL Managing Director, supports the positive outlook:

Following a string of recent acquisitions, AFL becomes the 9th in 2022.

The German-based company AFL Logistic GmbH and the American Freight Line S.E. Inc. are specialists within automotive special logistics between the EU and the US. Services include air, ocean, courier, express transports, and special services like sensitive cars and spare parts logistics. Most of the business goes via ocean transport.

AFL operates from 3 offices in Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Fort Lauderdale.

The AFL customers are typically small to mid-size US and Europe-based companies.
