Scan Global Logistics ships rice to the Royal Family of Denmark

10 Dec, 2015

In March 2011 Japan was hit by an earthquake and shortly after a tsunami which claimed many lives and injuries. HRH the Danish Crown Prince, Frederik VIII's Paire, visited the affected areas around the village of Higashi-Matsushima, in support of the people; his visit is still remembered with gratitude.

In 2015, the first rice, since the earthquake, was harvested and the village of Higashi-Matsushima and the agriculture locality asked to hand over the first bag of rice to HRH Crown Prince as an appreciation for his visit, back in 2011. The gift was handed over in the Danish capital and in Amalienborg, on November 18.

The Danish Embassy in Tokyo and several Danish companies have helped at the time of urgency and in the reconstruction phase.

Scan Global Logistics handled the shipment of rice to Denmark from Japan via an order from Nippon Express. This shipment took place in November and it was 320 kilos of rice traveling by air.

The SGL Air Freight Import team spent quite some time with the Danish food administration and local customs office at Copenhagen airport. This way they secured the order for smooth handling and delivery in time.

It was not the easiest task for the SGL team and patience was tested many times, however it was a pleasure to see the news on TV with pictures of HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark accepting the first bag of rice, knowing that SGL was the one securing just in time delivery.
