What do you get if you take a solar-electric vehicle, our ATBneo transport box and six American cities?
The solar-powered car, Sion, on tour.
Before a three weeks road trip across the US, German-based Sono Motors asked us to provide a safe end-to-end transport concept for the series-validation vehicle.
A special car requiring special treatment
The Sion is a solar-electric car that can charge itself through the power of the sun. So, safety and special handling were of the utmost importance to Sono Motors. And when it comes to special cars requiring special treatment, there’s only one solution that will do the job: the ATBneo automotive transport box.
Patented for the safe, discreet and seamless transportation of delicate cars, the Sion and ATBneo were a perfect match for the journey ahead.
Ready for the road
After weeks of planning the cross-country logistics chain in close collaboration with Sono Motors, the series-validation vehicle of the Sion was fitted into the automotive transport box. Within 24 hours, the car reached the US, where our exclusive truck contractor provided safe and seamless transport from East to West, covering six cities from New York to Los Angeles. Not made for safety reasons alone, the two-winged ATBneo created a perfect setting for presenting the SION to the highly intrigued public audience who came to see how sustainable future transportation may look.
Supporting the move to sustainable transportation
Discretion, swift decision-making and specific communication are paramount to securing the execution of such delicate projects involving numerous parties in Germany and the US.
‘We love cars, and we love solving the puzzle of worldwide logistics for our customers,’ says Julia Göttler and Uwe Schlottner, heading Operations and Fairs & Events, while expressing their thanks to Sono Motors for the close collaboration.
With over 20 years of know-how and specialisation within A-class automotive special logistics, we are proud and humbled by the confidence of Sono Motors and very much enjoyed helping support the transition from fossil to solar-powered transport. The SION is now safely back in Munich, ready to take to the roads elsewhere. We are ready too. Whenever. Wherever.
