Extension of the A7 motorway between Bordesholm and Elb Tunnel

17 Dec, 2015

An extension of the A7 motorway started in Germany in 2014. The A7 is one of Germany’s busiest stretch of motorway and the part, which starts at the Danish border in South Jutland and goes all the way down to Elb Tunnel in Hamburg, is Denmark’s most important stretch when it comes to international trade.

During the extension work, the stretch has been reduced to only one or two lanes, which has, as expected, caused congestions. Currently, this is primarily the case on the stretch between Bordesholm north of Neumünster and down to Ebl Tunnel in Hamburg.

The congestion makes it difficult to pass which has a crucial impact on our daily productivity and thus our earnings.

Therefore, we regret to have to introduce a temporary A7 congestion surcharge on all road transports between Denmark and Central Europe during the period of time in which the extension work is executed. This surcharge will take effect by January 1, 2016.

Calculation of the A7 congestion surcharge:
Minimum: DKK 15,00
Per 100 KGS: DKK 1,25
Maximum per shipment: DKK 190,00

We regret having to charge our customers an extra cost and we hope for your understanding. Please feel free to contact your SGL contact person with any questions.
